Dear Supporter,
We wanted to share an important update related to the Shahbad Forest.
A recent news, 31st March 2026, report highlights that a cheetah (identified as KP-3) was spotted near a village in Baran, Rajasthan — very close to the Shahbad forest region.
Villagers reported the animal moving through खेत (fields) and forest edges, likely in search of water and habitat. While no harm was reported, the sighting created panic and forced people to climb trees for safety.
This is not an isolated incident.
It is a clear signal of something much bigger:
- Wildlife is already using this landscape as a natural corridor
- The Shahbad forest is part of a critical movement route between Kuno and surrounding habitats
- Disturbing this ecosystem will increase human-wildlife conflict
As highlighted in our research, this region is part of a proposed cheetah corridor linking Kuno to Gandhi Sagar, making it vital for India’s long-term wildlife conservation efforts.
At the same time, the proposed pumped storage project threatens to:
- Destroy hundreds of hectares of forest
- Fragment wildlife habitats
- Disrupt this already active movement corridor
- Increase risks for both animals and local communities
This recent sighting shows that the forest is not empty land — it is alive, active, and essential.
If we ignore these signs, we risk turning coexistence into conflict.
We urge you to continue supporting this movement.

- Help raise awareness
- Stand for forests, wildlife, and communities
Every voice matters.
Together, we can protect Shahbad.
Warm regards,
Team Hum Log
