Save SGNP Manpada(Thane)
The Issue
Petition to :
Chief Minister of Maharashtra
Forest Minister of Maharashtra
Prime Minister's Office (PMO)
Forest Department & Environment Authorities
Chief Justice of India
Petition
We, the citizens of India, urgently appeal to protect 193 acres of forest land near Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) at Manpada–Tikujiniwadi, Thane.
This forest is not just a distant wilderness .It is an important green buffer for SGNP. It is a lifeline for every resident in one of India’s most densely populated urban regions.
Recent developments and a settlement related to this land have raised serious concerns among citizens. Many important details are still unclear, and there are fears that forest land may be damaged or diverted without proper public transparency and environmental safeguards.
If this forest is lost, the damage will be permanent.
We Demand:
✅ Full public disclosure of decisions and settlement details related to this land
✅ No destruction or diversion of forest land
✅ An independent inquiry into recent actions taken on the site
✅ A scientific ecological assessment of the 193-acre forest area
Why This Matters
-- Protect wildlife and natural habitat
-- Preserve clean air and green cover
--Prevent irreversible environmental loss
--Disintegrating the said land will break the continuity of SGNP Forest.
-- Several wildlife animals including the schedule 2 species Leopards are spotted in this area.
-- Any concretization, non-forest activities or development may cause human-animal conflict.
This forest belongs to all of us. Please sign and share to protect the green heartbeat of Mumbai and Thane.
Act now before the next heat wave, the next flood, or the next breath of smog reminds us of what we lost.
Don't stay silent. Protect nature before it is too late.
