Save Sevenoaks' Libraries

The Issue

Sevenoaks' libraries are at threat of closure and we must save them (info in Kent Online).

Our libraries aren't just a room full of books. They host reading groups, music groups, craft groups, IT services, language classes... they are warm spaces, safe spaces, quiet spaces and social spaces. They are often the only remaining reason to leave the house for those who have already had their bus services and children's centres closed and for whom the cost of living crisis has stopped any hope of joining paid-for groups.

Sevenoaks libraries are in:

Edenbridge
Hartley
Kemsing
New Ash Green
Otford
Riverhead
Seal
Sevenoaks
Swanley
Westerham
West Kingsdown

Conservative Councillor Peter Oakford (Deputy Leader of KCC) has said, "Kent has far too many libraries" and "we will bring a proposal forward sometime this year to see where libraries can be sold off" See item 9.

The loss of any of our libraries would be a travesty and would have detrimental effects on thousands of residents.

We must send a clear message to KCC that we will not accept their proposals for closure.

PROTESTS
