The Issue

I have the privilege of living near Seabreeze Neighborhood Park, a quiet park full of tall, shaded pine trees that enhances the beauty and essence of our neighborhood in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. It's more than just a park. It’s a place of respite where I, along with many of my neighbors, have found peace and joy in the natural environment it offers. The cheerful chirping of birds, including a family of Ospreys, adds a vibrancy to our daily lives that is irreplaceable. Having an open and accessible outdoor place nearby for everyone, young and old, is a blessing that we cannot afford to lose.

However, our neighborhood three-acre park is now under threat of being sold by the city as surplus land. This decision poses a grave concern for our community as Seabreeze Park is much more than a piece of land; it is a vital area providing numerous benefits to the residents.

Seabreeze Neighborhood Park is supports and enriches the daily lives of residents. It provides a safe space for children to play, fostering friendships and encouraging physical activity. It's a green space that offers shade and shelter to a variety of bird species, enriching the biodiversity of our locality. The park serves as a communal ground where residents have the opportunity to connect with nature, which is essential for our mental well-being.

The sale of this park for possible development would deprive our community of all these attributes, transforming our vibrant neighborhood into just another concrete settlement. Such a move signifies the city does not value residents' welfare and the environment. Losing this park means losing our shared future, our public land, and a vital aspect of what makes our neighborhood special.

We need your support to prevent this from happening. By signing this petition, you are standing up for the preservation of open green spaces that are crucial for sustainable community living. Let’s protect Seabreeze Neighborhood Park and ensure it remains a haven for current and future generations. Sign now to send a strong message to the city leaders that this park is not up for sale.
