Thank you Friends of Sailor Bar for signing the petition, and helping to protected the wildlife that thrives at this one-of-a kind space along the American River Parkway.  Things have been moving fast.  Here are highlights:

After going through the democratic process of meeting with the Sacramento County Park and Recreation Director and Commissioners, and the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, it has become clear that we need to hire an attorney with experience in administering the California Environmental Quality Act.   It has been 15 years since the roads have been closed to public traffic.  Clearly, the baseline use (for wildlife and humans) has changed during that time at the Sailor Bar.  We are pleased to share with you that we have entered into an agreement with Matthew Chalmers, Founder and CEO of Birch Citadel Law Firm.

We need your help.  Please use this link to donate for legal funding. https://www.sarariverwatch.org/sailor_bar  Your donation directly supports Save the American River Association and Friends of Sailor Bar in the effort to prevent the reopening of Sailor Bar to public vehicles. With your financial support, we can seek guidance from legal and environmental professionals to help safeguard wildlife, prevent safety risks, and preserve this important natural area for public recreation and education in Sailor Bar Regional Park. Save the American River Association is a 501(c)3 non-profit and your donation is tax-deductible. SARA's Tax ID is 94-2987563.

Please send any relevant information you have including correspondence, accounts of the impact of the gravel roads being opened, environmental and safety information, and relevant photos to Matt Chalmers (Matt.Chalmers@BirchCitidel.com) with a cc to (ProtectSailorBar@yahoo.com).

Feel free to call or text me, Jodi King at 916.837.4159 if you would like more information about the legal counsel /or funding arrangement.  Or email at ProtectSailorBar@yahoo.com.

We now have a FRIENDS OF SAILOR BAR blog site!  Take a look at the amazing photos taken by local resident and fine arts photographer Soroush Mostafanejad on the site. (Click on the titles to get to the photos, and blogs).   The Friends of Sailor Bar Blog site is for the public to use for educational purposes about the issue of opening the gravel roads at Sailor Bar and generating useful and relevant conversation, and dialog.  https://protectsailorbar.wordpress.com/blog-post

Please feel free to post what you love about Sailor Bar and share the impact of opening the roads to public vehicles, and photos and videos, and your thoughts about how we can be more effective in our advocacy.  This Blog site is for us, the Friends of Sailor Bar to communicate with each other, the public and our representatives.  Let's hope our current representatives lead with vision, thereby leaving a beautiful, pristine river parkway for our grandchildren and great grandchildren.  This is the worthy legacy toward which we must all strive!

Please send any relevant information you have including correspondence, accounts of the impact of the gravel roads being opened, environmental and safety information, photos and relevant referrals to Matt Chalmers (Matt.Chalmers@BirchCitidel.com)with a cc to me (ProtectSailorBar@yahoo.com).

KEEP GETTING PEOPLE TO SIGN THE PETITION.  THE MORE SIGNATURES WE HAVE THE STRONGER OUR VOICE FOR THE WILDLIFE.  WHERE WILL THEY GO IF PUBLIC TRAFFIC IS ALLOWED INTO THEIR HABITAT?!?!
