Save Sacred Ground: Stand Up for Survivors Now
The Issue
Partner with us to preserve sacred ground that has provided refuge, healing, and hope to countless women and children impacted by domestic violence.
As many in our community are becoming aware, the Chicago Cubs organization is planning to demolish the historic House of the Good Shepherd—an institution that has stood for over 100 years—to create additional parking.
This decision would not only erase a deeply meaningful piece of history but also eliminate a life-saving resource that has supported generations of survivors.
We are calling on community members, leaders, and stakeholders to stand with us in protecting the House of the Good Shepherd from demolition.
This petition represents a collective voice advocating for the preservation of its mission: to continue serving women and children escaping domestic abuse with safety, dignity, and care.
This is more than a building—it is a legacy of compassion and a critical support system that our community still urgently needs.
We believe there is a path forward that does not require sacrificing this sacred space. Thoughtful compromise can allow for development while preserving the heart of what has made this place so vital.
Together, we can ensure that the House of the Good Shepherd continues its life-saving work for generations to come.
