Today, representatives from The Hoddesdon Society met with Lewis Cocking MP to discuss the future of the reserve.
It was an extremely positive meeting and Lewis was clear that he shares the concerns being raised by the community. We understand he will be raising these concerns again directly with both the RSPB and Thames Water, and ensuring the voices of the 58,000+ people who have signed the petition are heard. The petition will also be formally presented to both organisations as part of that correspondence.
Most importantly, we came away hugely encouraged. There is a huge amount of public support for Rye Meads and a growing determination to ensure its future is given the attention it deserves.
Now is the time to give the petition one final push before it is formally presented. Every signature helps demonstrate the strength of feeling surrounding the future of this much-loved reserve.
