Save Round Lake and reduce fish limits to half

Save Round Lake and reduce fish limits to half
The Issue
The people of Itasca County Minnesota would like to see a reduced fish limit on round lake. Local residents love to fish this small 55 acre lake. This once was a great crappie lake until people came from all over in the winter day after day catching limits of crappies which eventually hurt the population of crappies to the point people stopped fishing them because they were hit so hard and not many left. Local people used to like to come and catch a meal of fish, but now that good fishing is gone.
If we can reduce the limit of pan fish like sunfish and crappies to half limits on this small lake the lake will be able to come back. There are people that look to catch high limits and fill freezers. On a small 55 acre lake like Round lake it doesn't take much to hurt the population of pan fish. With the reduced limit it should deter the people from coming long ways to fish crappies in the winter over and over getting high limits to fill freezers.
With reduced limits this would give the chance to have bigger and healthier fish. We want the local people that grew up catching fish on this small lake to be able to continue to do that without seeing 40 fish houses in the winter set up cleaning out this small lake. last winter hardly anyone on the lake because of the past couple years of this lake being hit so hard their was hardly any crappies left.
We need to do what other lakes have done and have a reduced limit of pan fish taken off this lake. Right now the lake needs to rebuild and get its numbers of fish back. The way we can get more and bigger fish is to reduce limits and catch and release.
