"NO Parkland for a High School", NO Rockburn Parkland for a High School".
Rockburn is where many have so much history. A place where rocks are dedicated to many who started programs and invested so much time to the community. A place where many grew up spending warm spring days playing baseball & softball. A place where so many continue to spend family time together through sports, walking trails, playing, and picnicking.
A community recreation reason to help save Rockburn, and there are so many different things to do for all ages. TRAILS - Walking, Running, Mountain Biking, Hikes. Sports - Baseball, Softball, Football, Cheerleading, Soccer, Lacrosse, Tennis, Disc Golf. There is playground and picnic area for days you want to relax and just watch the kids play. There is bird watching groups, a Skills Park for beginner mountain bikers. I know I am leaving out so much more this park has to offer.
For some in the community current & past this park is a part of their life and their families lives. There are parts of Rockburn that are dedicated to many who did so much for the Park. Without them the park wouldn’t have grown to be what it is today.
On a Homeowner reason, and I must make it clear I do not live in the area of Rockburn rather I am more in the general Old Washington Rd area which is down the road. Homeowners in that general surrounding park area made a major life purchase on a home they will most likely live in most of their lives. Elkridge isn’t a place people just move in and out of. People move here because they feel like home here, for the convenience, the great school, and the great people. Destroying the beautiful parkland that sits on Montgomery Rd and Landing Rd and putting a High School there would destroy people in this community and those that come to visit this great park we call Rockburn Park.
Save this park mostly because it brings joy to so many of all ages in so many ways.
Thank you everyone for helping support
