Save Riverside Park
The Issue
Hello and welcome to our journey to Save Riverside Park!
In November 2024, Dundee City Council granted planning permission for a 10,000 square foot development on our city’s last remaining accessible green space by the River Tay.
The development comprises a training facility, complete with offices, a sauna, a 76-bay car park, a plastic grass pitch, a steam room, a doctor's surgery, a gym suite, a lounge area, and boardrooms.
Dundee City Council took a decision that breaches environmental regulations, our local development plan, our access rights, and our flood provisions — all of which are designed to place people at the heart of decision-making. By not following proper procedure, the community has been excluded. We have not been heard. And our site is at risk of irreparable damage.
This is undemocratic, unjust, and unethical.
This site has been selected because of its natural beauty. Stripping it from our community, and placing it into the hands of a minority, is shameful.
Alternative sites should have been properly considered. We are not challenging Dundee City Council because we don’t wish to see a training facility built. We are challenging them because we know that there are other, better, sites available.
Communities should have their voices heard in matters that take land away from them. We must take a stand against improper procedure. We must take a stand to protect our green space. We must take a stand and show that together, our voices can be heard.
We can prevent our green space from becoming a victim of improper process. With your backing, we have a real prospect of success.
So as community members, as custodians of the environment, and as stewards for the future, we seek your signatures to make our voice heard. Your support will make all the difference; together, we can save our beloved green space by the Tay.
