Request To DC Panchkula for Immersion Ghats on the bank of River Ghaggar in Panchkula.

a) You will find proper place to park your vehicle, and not park anywhere randomly.

b) You will find a proper pucca place to stand on and not slippery river bank.

c) You will get a neat and clean place, unlike the current river bank where people have to stand on or between garbage to immerse something as right now the river bank is full of garbage.

We, the undersigned members of the Volunteer Group "Team Save River Ghaggar," consisting of over 100 dedicated individuals, have been tirelessly working in Panchkula towards the conservation and cleanliness of the revered River Ghaggar for more than a year. Our consistent efforts include:

1) Conducting regular cleanliness drives, our volunteers have done more than 100 cleaning drives in last one year.

2) Organizing havan (sacred fire rituals) at the ghat to educate the public about the proper disposal of hawan samagri,

3) We have been relentlessly raising awareness through various campaigns.

4) From time to time we raise concerns and petitions with various goverment bodies for the betterment of the environment like NGT, CPCB, HSVP,MC and recently with NHAI.

Our commitment to the cause stems from our deep concern for both the spiritual significance of the river and the preservation of its environmental integrity.

Background: Since eons,  River Ghaggar holds immense spiritual importance and has been a place of devotion and reverence for countless devotees. However, the absence of a proper immersion ghat has led to various challenges, including pollution of the river due to improper waste disposal during religious rituals. Additionally, the lack of basic amenities such as toilets, placement of dustbins and proper signage has hindered the overall experience for devotees.

Our Requests:  With the collective efforts of over 100 dedicated volunteers, from tri city( Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali) we urge the esteemed Haryana Government to take immediate steps towards the development of proper immersion ghats on the banks of River Ghaggar in Panchkula. These ghats should ensure the following:

1) Community Toilets: The ghat must be equipped with clean and accessible community toilets to cater to the needs of the devotees, thereby promoting hygiene and a respectful environment.

2) Plantation and Greenery: The development should include thoughtful landscaping and plantation to enhance the natural beauty of the area and contribute to the river's ecosystem.

3) Cleanliness Measures: Place dustbins at various places on the immersion guats and also collection bins. Implement waste management solutions and regular upkeep to maintain the cleanliness of the ghat and prevent pollution of the river.

4) Ghat Infrastructure: Build a well-designed and safe ghat section to facilitate the immersion rituals for devotees.

5) Signage and Guidelines: Install informative signage and guidelines boards at various locations to educate visitors about responsible practices, religious significance, and the importance of environmental preservation.

Supporting Data: In November 2019, a leading newspaper reported that over a lakh of devotees visit the Ghaggar ghat, highlighting the spiritual and social importance of the site.

Call to Action: By signing this petition, we, the undersigned, earnestly appeal to the Haryana Government to initiate the development of a proper immersion ghat on River Ghaggar in Panchkula. This endeavour will not only fulfil the spiritual aspirations of the devotees but also ensure the protection and rejuvenation of the river's ecosystem for generations to come. Together, let's stand for the coexistence of spirituality and environmental stewardship.
