Raemond Coleman, our librarian, is being laid off due to budget cuts at our school board. Raemond is an important figure in our school community, hosting events and clubs in the library. He makes our school much more inclusive and a great place to be in. Raemond runs 4 clubs on his own time, Rock Club, Dnd Club, Creative Writing Club, Club, and Safe Club, every week using his personal time during and after school every day to make our school a better place. 

The school board plans to lay off Raemond and bring in another librarian, the librarian from RCI. This librarian would spend half of the week at ADHS and the other half at RCI. This means our library will be closed for 2-3 days each week. This means Dnd Club, Safe Club, Rock Club, and Board Game Club will all be shut down, Chess Club tournaments might be cancelled due to the lack of library time, and our school may miss out on potential opportunities such as guest speakers and college presentations. At lunch, our library will also be closed, and students will lose the library as a place to hang out. As we all know, the main place to hang out is the library. At our school, it's more of a social place to hang out rather than a traditional library. Losing our librarian will change that. We should be advocating and encouraging students to come to our library rather than closing it for half of the week.

Students have contacted our school board's superintendent, but nothing seems to have changed. Raemond Coleman is still being laid off. This petition is our final effort to keep both our library and our librarian.
