The Issue

My name is Joe Tullo, and I own and operate PyroLand here in South Canaan. I have had this home for 6 years now & I want to make it clear from the start — I am committed to operating within the normal, reasonable time frames for events, even though there is currently no noise ordinance in place. My events and hours are not set for constant activity — this is not every day or every weekend. These are occasional, members-only events, not open to the general public. Other times, this property is simply my home, where I spend time with my family, including my two children and our two dogs.

What I will not accept is being unfairly blamed for noise or disturbances caused by others, or being the subject of false statements, accusations, or defamation about my business or my character. In our surrounding area, there are people who shoot guns and firearms late into the night, well past what most would consider acceptable hours. There are also others who set off explosives, run chainsaws for tree-cutting services in the middle of the night, and operate businesses or activities that create noise. I do not complain about them — not the gun clubs, not the hunters, not the other local trades — and I expect the same level of fairness and respect in return.

I have put in a large investment into PyroLand, alongside others who are involved in what we are building. This is not just my passion — it’s my livelihood, and theirs as well. All of my insurance and required documentation are properly submitted and on file with the appropriate local authorities, including the town, police department, and fire department. If necessary, I will take legal action with my attorneys to protect my family, my business, and my assets.

I’ve been here since 2019. I’ve paid my taxes, I’ve paid my dues, and I’ve been nothing but respectful to my neighbors and our community. This is my property. I follow both local and state laws. I do not need permission from anyone to operate within those laws — just as I do not demand permission from others to live their lives and run their businesses.

I love this community. I love being here. And PyroLand isn’t just a business — it’s a place where families come together, where memories are made, and where the joy of fireworks brings people closer. My hope is that we can continue to respect one another, support one another, and recognize that we all share this town, this land, and the responsibility to keep it a place we are proud to call home.

This is not an everyday thing , not even every weekend . It’s all Legal & done right by License Holders.

Despite these ongoing issues from other sources, I find myself unjustly subjected to false statements, accusations, and defamation regarding my character and business. This not only harms my reputation but also threatens the peace and harmony I strive to maintain in our community.

It is unjust and unacceptable for me to bear the brunt of complaints that rightly belong to those causing actual disturbances. If gun clubs, hunters, or local trades can operate without harassment, I should be afforded the same respect and consideration.

Therefore, I ask for understanding and fairness from our community members and local authorities. I request that complaints and accusations be investigated thoroughly and directed at the true sources of disturbances rather than unfairly being aimed at me. It's vital for community harmony that we address this issue based on truth and fairness.

Sign this petition to stand for fairness, truth, and respect within our Lake Ariel community. Let’s ensure that accusations and complaints are legitimate and rightfully directed, allowing everyone the right to live and operate peacefully.
