This letter was sent to the Premier, Ministers and all MLAs moments ago.

Dear Premier, Ministers, and all MLAs,

I am writing to provide you with an update on the urgent matter regarding the policy review that has sparked significant concern and anxiety within the community. Since my previous correspondence, the response from concerned citizens has been overwhelming, with more than 7103 individuals signing the petition demanding an immediate halt to the policy review. This remarkable level of support demonstrates the depth of our collective concern for the well-being of New Brunswick's students.

I reiterate that in 2018, a commitment was made to keep politics out of the classroom. This commitment was grounded in the understanding that our education system should prioritize our students' growth, knowledge, and personal development rather than subjecting them to political bias. It is disheartening to witness the erosion of this commitment through the ongoing policy review, which appears to be politically motivated and driven by the premier himself.

Over the past two weeks, New Brunswick has gained widespread attention in the news due to the allowance of hurtful anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric and the propagation of misinformation. The repercussions of this regrettable situation are far-reaching, as it has damaged the reputation of our province and its government. Furthermore, it has caused unnecessary anxiety and distress for 2SLGBTQ+ students, their families, and their allies. We must rectify this situation promptly and protect the rights and well-being of all individuals in our community.

The policy currently under review has been developed over ten years, capturing the necessary details to affirm the charter rights of individuals. Its provisions are essential in creating an inclusive educational environment where students can thrive, free from discrimination and marginalization.

Minister Hogan and the Premier had multiple opportunities to communicate facts regarding the policy and curriculum, denounce hateful misinformation and signal that discrimination and hate were not welcome in our Province. Sadly they did not do this.

The policy review must be halted immediately in light of the distressing developments and the tremendous support expressed by concerned citizens. New Brunswick has numerous pressing priorities that require our attention and resources. Diverting our focus from these crucial matters neglects our citizens' needs and jeopardizes their well-being.

The reputation of our province and government hinges on our ability to prioritize inclusivity, respect, and the protection of students' rights. By succumbing to politically motivated campaigns and allowing the spread of hateful rhetoric and misinformation, we undermine the values that make New Brunswick a beacon of progress and acceptance.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I eagerly await your public response and swift actions to protect the rights and dignity of  2SLGBTQIA+ students.

Yours sincerely,
