For nearly half a century, Pineapple Hill Saloon & Grill has stood proudly in our community, not just as a neighborhood bar, but as a cherished gathering place where memories have been created, friendships have been forged, and the spirit of our locality has been celebrated. Established in 1978, it's been a keystone of our area and we also proudly have Legacy Status with the Mayors office.  For the past 15 years, I have had the privilege of calling it my own, being the gate keeper of the neighboor hoods history and memories-a proud chapter in its storied history.

Through good times and bad, during prosperous eras and through the ravages of a global pandemic, Pineapple Hill has been more than just a business; it’s been a family. We've stood by our dedicated staff, nurtured our loyal patrons, been actively involved in our community and remained steadfast in preserving what makes this place extraordinarily special.

However, an unforeseen challenge now threatens us: on August 6, our landlord issued a 60-day notice for all small businesses in our shopping center to vacate,  except—In-N-Out. With development plans on the horizon, there's been no written assurance that we, along with other small businesses, will be able to return after these improvements. This uncertainty places at risk not only the livelihood of our employees and the enjoyment of our loyal customers, but the future of a cultural cornerstone.

Small businesses like Pineapple Hill are the backbone of our communities. It’s where people celebrate life’s milestones, carve out niches of belonging, and contribute to the uniqueness of our city’s character. It’s vital for us to fight to preserve this tapestry of local enterprise which enriches our lives and fuels our spirits.

I urge our landlord to reconsider the decision and make provisions that will allow the small businesses in our area to return once developments conclude. And the city officials to step in and create provisions and protections for presereving our small buisnesses. By doing so, they will not just be preserving businesses but will be safeguarding the community’s heritage and identity.
