The Issue

Pima Elementary School is a cornerstone of the South Scottsdale community. Established in 1966 and rebuilt in 2019 with a substantial investment of $18.1 million, it has been serving generations of families with pride and commitment. As one of the few schools in the Scottsdale Unified School District with specialized special education programs such as the SUCCESS program and the K2ABC program, Pima excels at providing tailored education to its diverse student body.

Beyond its academic contributions, Pima is a haven for minority-majority students, earning an A rating from the state of Arizona. The prospect of closing or repurposing this vital neighborhood institution not only disrupts the community fabric but also endangers the educational progress and stability of our children. This school is not just a building; it's a vibrant community where students thrive and parents actively participate. It reflects the spirit of Scottsdale - inclusive, pioneering, and resolute.

Despite its achievements, Pima faces the looming threat of closure or repurposing. This is not just an issue for the families directly involved, but for the entire South Scottsdale neighborhood. Closing Pima would mean losing a part of our history and a valuable community partner, jeopardizing the educational journey of its current and future students.

We urge decision-makers in the Scottsdale Unified School District to reconsider plans that threaten Pima's existence. Let's explore alternative solutions that don’t sacrifice the welfare of our children. Engage in community dialogues, utilize other funding avenues, or re-evaluate budget priorities - keeping in mind the school's proven value and distinctive programs.

As committed parents, educators, and community members, we stand united to save Pima Elementary School. We cannot afford to let a facility that offers so much to so many become reduced to a mere memory. We implore those with the power to effect change to listen to our unified voice.

Help us keep Pima Elementary thriving as the exceptional educational institution it is and continues to be. Sign this petition and take a stand for our future leaders.
