Save Pickleball at Genesta: Keep Lines on Both Courts

The Issue

Pickleball is booming in Los Angeles, but public courts aren’t keeping up with demand.

At Encino/Genesta, both the East and West courts are being repainted. Currently, both courts have tennis and pickleball lines, ensuring shared use.

But under the current proposal, the West Court would be repainted with tennis lines only, eliminating pickleball play there. This change would cut the number of pickleball courts in half and permanently remove access to four public pickleball courts.

Meanwhile, tennis players already have 16 courts just a mile away, while the nearest alternative pickleball courts are 4–7 miles away. We’re asking the Department of Recreation and Parks to keep recreation fair and accessible by including pickleball lines on both the East and West courts.
