Please come along if you can to the crucial meeting at Hutt City Council tomorrow morning. The Council's Long Term Plan (LTP) Committee will be determining options for Petone Wharf to be included in formal consultation processes, which will take place in March and April, before making final decisions on the LTP in May. At the moment, the only two options both include the demolition of the Wharf (with or without "memorialisation"). The meeting is tomorrow, Tuesday 20th, in the Council Chambers, starting at 9am. We are making a short presentation in the public comment section at the start of the meeting. It will be interesting! Ideally get there at least 10 minutes in advance. The door at the eastern end of the building, next to the events centre, should be open. Take the lift or go up the stairs to the 2nd floor. If that door is not open, go to the other end of the building, where you will need to sign in and staff will direct you to the lifts.
Also, please jump on line and like our Facebook page - Save Petone Wharf 2024 - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61555961834853 The facebook page will keep everyone updated, and we would love you to add comments, thoughts and suggestions. We will be sharing how we can support people making submissions on the LTP.
We had an outstanding day at Petone Rotary Fair on Saturday, with another 800 signatures added on our hard copy petition. People are really concerned about the potential loss of our wharf. Thanks again for your support!
