Save Penn State York: A Vital Asset to Our Community

Save Penn State York: A Vital Asset to Our Community
The Issue
On February 25, 2025, Penn State President Neeli Bendapudi announced that Penn State York is one of twelve branch campuses under review for potential closure in 2027-28, in light of this news this following petition has been written.
Penn State York has been a cornerstone of education, innovation, and opportunity in our region for decades. Now, its future is at risk. The potential closure of our campus would be a devastating loss—not only for students, faculty, and staff but for the entire York community and surrounding areas.
What Makes Penn State York Unique:
- Offers a world class Penn State Education at a fraction of cost
- Welcomes all learners from diverse backgrounds
- Strengthens the community through research, innovation, and outreach initiatives
- Olli - (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) courses for adults 50 and older, designed to foster intellectual curiosity and social engagement.
- The Graham Center for Innovation and Collaboration connects students with real-world problem-solving opportunities.
- Pullo center that brings entertainment, education, and cultural events to the community.
- GI Bill for Veterans: Penn State York proudly supports military veterans by accepting GI Bill benefits, helping those who served transition into higher education
Our Call to Action
We cannot let this vital institution disappear. The closure of Penn State York would create educational barriers, limit career opportunities, and negatively impact the local economy. We urge Penn State leadership and decision-makers to recognize the long-term value of this campus and invest in its future.
Join us in taking a stand! Sign this petition to show your support for Penn State York. Additionally, please reach out to local and state representatives to voice your concerns. Together, we can ensure that Penn State York remains a beacon of opportunity for generations to come.
