Save Palma Sola Bay's Horses

The Issue

We, the undersigned residents of Manatee County, and surrounding areas, do petition the Board of County Commissioners to establish reasonable regulatory guidelines for sustainable equestrian uses of the Palma Sola Causeway.

Palma Sola Bay in Bradenton, Florida has been a beloved destination for horseback riding for years. However, recent discussions have arisen about potentially banning horses from the bay. We believe that this would be a mistake and urge decision-makers to reconsider.

Riding horses along the Palma Sola Causeway (North side of Manatee Ave, East of the bridge) and Palma Sola Bay (Northeasy) has long been a popular tourist activity. While water quality activists and some neighbors have complained, the county has found no means to regulate the activity.

Furthermore, horses have been safely ridden at Palma Sola Bay for decades without any reported incidents or accidents. The horses are well-trained and cared for by experienced handlers who prioritize their safety and well-being.

Banning horses from Palma Sola Bay would not only negatively impact local businesses that rely on horseback riding tourism but also limit access to an enjoyable outdoor activity for residents and visitors alike.

We urge decision-makers to consider the importance of preserving this cherished tradition at Palma Sola Bay by allowing continued horseback riding access. Let's work together to ensure that future generations can enjoy this unique experience as well.

In signing this petition, each individual expresses the belief that horseback riding at Palma Sola Bay is an important part of our community's heritage and, as such, should be a protected right of responsible horse owners.
