Plea from Ecological Owlthorpe…….

Were YOU one of the 795 local school children from the three local primary schools that helped build our oasis in 2012, the award winning Owlthorpe Heritage and Nature Trail? To see the extent of work carried out please zoom into our interpretation boards:

The project was government funded under the monitoring of Natural England by their Higher-Level Stewardship Scheme. The trail was opened with an official event on March 16th 2012 by the children and assisted by Clive Betts MP for Sheffield South East.

Now eleven years on I just wondered what your thoughts are about the proposal to destroy our Oasis. Please consult with your parents as many of them were also involved. Sheffield (LPA) have now made a proposal to build 150 new houses on the Grassland and Grazing project which is a major component of the Owlthorpe Heritage & Nature Trail. It is by working together that we can change hearts and minds and curb the over-development of vital green spaces, especially when mature and valuable trees are threatened with the axe. Numbers are important: politicians take notice when they feel a sufficient threat to their re-election.”
