Neuigkeit zur PetitionSave our Woodland on Leafy Lane in Heanor and say no to more houses!

Historic Trees are at risk too!

While our main campaign is trying to protect the woodland for the community and our future generations and also for the Wildlife, I thought I’d give some of the other trees at risk a shout out!

On the main access of Leafy Lane is a couple of mature trees that are also at risk of being felled should there be a new road..

During the 1900s - 1950s, there used to be a Vicarage at the top of Leafy Lane, now where the depot stands. I recently found out by looking at an old photo of the trees on the lane in the 50s kindly shared by Kenneth on Heanor Bygones, that some of those trees still line the 3.3m wide Leafy Lane access road today! That makes them  over 70 years old!

The upsetting thing for us about these trees is because the Council own them, they have refused my request for an application to place a TPO on them!  Yet, a similar aged tree, in close proximity in a neighbours garden and has roots under the access road has a TPO.. Go figure that one out!

Anyways, perhaps the Council will protect them in the future should it be certain that the trees are in danger. We will just have to wait and see...

Hope you like the old and new photos! Once again, thank you for sharing the old photos with us Kenneth ❤️

If anyone is reading this update, please follow Heanor Bygones, its a brilliant page full of history - https://m.facebook.com/groups/152972684863005/

P.s I appologise if the photos are blurry to non-mobile users.
