A walk through Leafy Lane Woodland

Today I took a walk through Leafy Lane Woodland towards the Memorial Park. It sounded alive with wildlife and rustling of the trees in the wind. I thought to myself how could anyone want to destroy this little piece of habitat, especially our Council !
I was intrigued by the steps, and it got me thinking about something heanor history society wrote about Sukey’s Hollow -
“The dark and gloomy Victorian vicarage between Hands Road and the white house would do nothing to reassure people taking a shortcut through Sukey's Hollow on a wild, wintry evening.”
It made me wonder if this was the same path used back in the day, especially as Leafy Lane Depot is where the Vicarage once stood until the 1950s. It was an old rectory prior to that.
We have so much history in Heanor and greenery, I wonder what we will leave behind when it’s all houses.. will it just be a concrete jungle, lack of trees and wildlife and pollution ?
