Save Our UW-Richland Campus - Meet with the Community!

The Issue

The UW-Richland Campus was established in 1967 to provide educational access to the citizens of rural southwestern Wisconsin. But it became a much more worldly campus over time, as students from across Wisconsin, neighboring states, and many other countries found their way to Richland Center. In many ways, the UW-Richland Campus brought the world to Richland County. In addition, the Campus has had a profound positive and economic impact on the community and also served as a cultural hub of the area.

Due to many factors beginning with the regionalization of the UW Colleges and progressing to the current branch campus model, UW-Richland was slowly dismantled through lack of financial support, eliminating the position of Dean, drastically reducing faculty and staff, having no marketing or strategic plans, eliminating the international coordinators and discontinuing Continuing Education and youth programming.

The Community is now disheartened and upset. UW System is proposing to end all in-person instruction on July 1, 2023. This will mean our college students will have to move away from Richland County, and we will lose our connection to the national and international student community. There is tremendous energy to have the campus continue in some form and be part of the Wisconsin Idea.

Please sign our petition today so that we can get a meeting between the community and our state elected officials to share ideas on how we can SAVE OUR CAMPUS.
