We, the undersigned, oppose the proposed rezoning in Belmont, MA that would allow the construction of large hotels or major commercial projects in or near Belmont Center.

This rezoning would harm small local businesses, increase traffic and parking problems, and destroy the small-town character that makes Belmont unique. Large-scale hotel development would benefit outside developers — not the people who live and work here.

Belmont is its local shops, walkable center, and community feel, not oversized commercial buildings. We urge the Planning Board and Select Board to reject any rezoning that allows hotels or large commercial projects and to protect the town’s small businesses and neighborhood integrity.
