Dear Supporters, I hope this finds you all well. Indeed, I hope it finds you at all, as some tell me they do not receive any updates; perhaps it depends on the way people choose to engage with this platform.
You may have seen the hoardings go up on Bradfield Park Central, (the old bowling green), to accommodate the ramp construction depot. We had hopes of appealing to Premier Chris Minns directly, given his recent Bradfield Oration sentiments, (as mentioned in my last update) – however we have only reached a senior member of his staff. We are being held as far away as possible. The offer of mediation we sought has come to nothing so far – Transport for NSW offering only a review of their communication process, which is meaningless.
North Sydney Council who received $2.5m in return for allowing an application to the Heritage Council to proceed, has not used some of this to defend the trust it holds over the land, owing to its own budget crisis, caused by the Olympic pool redevelopment being tens of millions over budget. I’m hoping for a “new broom” at the looming elections and am supporting the CommUnity 1st team.
There are over 10,000 signatories (includes paper signings) to this petition, so it is cowardly of all concerned – elected representatives and the media - to ignore us.
If someone out there has the ear of Premier Minns, please reason with him. Or if you have any other ideas, you might like to contact me direct at icurdie@bigpond.com
Thank you for your consideration and support, Ian
