Dear Supporters, a lot seems to have happened this week. Thanks to you, our numbers keep growing. We also have a Facebook Page where there are more updates including visuals of our community ramp solution. https://www.facebook.com/groups/cycleramp
If you are on Facebook, it’d add even more to our message if you would join the page too.
Many of our supporters are busy gathering paper petition signatures.
As you may know, there is a state election in NSW next week. So far, only one candidate for my electorate has publicly said he wanted the Transport for NSW linear ramp – so he’s just lost 6000 votes! One supported the community’s proposal and the rest seemed to want to consult further, or put off any discussion until after the election, and so, sit on the fence.
There is some way to go and we have not given up on our vision. We need to work on:
· will the NSW Heritage Council fall in with TfNSW or will it act to safeguard an area of state heritage significance?
· will the Commonwealth government’s Minister for Environment take steps to safeguard an area of national heritage significance?
Thank you for your continued interest in helping to preserve our environment, save our scarce parks and for your appreciation of the heritage features of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and its approaches. Today’s picture shows the community’s solution – a gently folded structure, reflecting cutting edge designs in places famous for cycling, like The Netherlands, Denmark and Belgium.
Best wishes, Ian
