Governor Hochul is trying to dismantle our suburban way of life by flooding our neighborhoods with thousands of accessory apartments thanks to her 2022 proposed NYS Budget. This provision that would single handedly change our communities by foregoing local zoning requirements. She would mandate towns, villages and cities to allow 500-1500 square foot apartments be constructed within any single family house.

Governor Hochul’s policy will double classroom sizes, increase  traffic, the cost of government services, overcrowding, garbage and increase nitrogen levels in our waterways and directly threaten our quality of life on Long Island.  If this provision were to be passed, it would have a significant impact on our communities. Long Island’s middle class will bear the burden.

Together, we must fight back against Governor Hochul’s abysmal proposal.
