We, the undersigned, call upon our community, our leaders, and all those who care about the welfare of animals, to take action and support the rescue of stray animals. We believe that rescuing stray animals is not only a moral imperative but also the responsibility of Hidalgo County to protect all its inhabitants while having significant benefits for our society, the environment, and the animals themselves. Here is why we have come together as a community and urge you to take action:

1. Compassion and Empathy: Stray animals are vulnerable, often living in harsh conditions without proper care or protection. As compassionate individuals, it is our duty to alleviate their suffering and provide them with the love and care they DESERVE. 

2. Preventing Suffering: Stray animals face countless dangers such as starvation, disease, and abuse. By supporting rescue efforts, we can prevent the needless suffering of these innocent creatures. 

3. Community Safety: Stray animals can sometimes pose risks to public safety, causing accidents and spreading diseases. Due to their fear and mistreatment, they may become defensive and pose as a threat. Rescuing and caring for them helps create safer communities for all. 

4. Reducing Overpopulation: Uncontrolled breeding among stray animals contributes to overpopulation, which in turn leads to more strays. Rescuing and spaying/neutering these animals helps break the cycle and reduces the overall stray animal population. 

5. Education and Awareness: Animal rescue initiatives provide opportunities for educating communities about responsible pet ownership, compassion, and the importance of animal welfare. 

6. Second Chances: Many stray animals are loving and capable of forming deep bonds with humans. By rescuing them, we give these animals a second chance at a happy and fulfilling life in a loving environment or home. 

7. Local Economy: Animal rescue organizations often create jobs and stimulate the local economy by providing services related to animal care and welfare.
