On December 15, 2022, the Huntsville Public Library staff were informed, after their Christmas luncheon, that their employment with the city will end at the end of January as the city management moves into a contract with Library Systems and Services, a For-Profit private company.  Folks within city management were present at the luncheon after which they presented the memo notifying staff of the end of their employment.  

There has been NO public information sessions regarding this contract, NO public commenting allowed, and NO public desire for this to take place at all.  This is being done because city management and city council are simply tired of hearing how their abysmal decisions regarding the library affected citizens.  

This is either a legitimate selling of our public source because they’re tired of hearing us defend it OR an attempt to shut the library staff up by showing them they can be fired and our source sold if they don’t get in line.  Either way, it’s being done without citizen knowledge or input.

Let the mayor, city council, and city management know You want to Save Our Source - the Huntsville Public Library!
