The Spotsylvania School Board is proposing a policy change that will limit the county's parents' and businesses' abilities to donate snacks to schools in need. Since funding was not provided to give snacks to students in need a grassroots movement has started in our county to feed those children. Many local area businesses, parents, organizations, and county citizens have stepped up to provide daily snacks for those who can't afford them.  On Monday a new policy is proposed that will limit individuals' and businesses' ability to donate directly to the schools and even goes so far as to say that the school board has to VOTE to accept the donations. This policy goes way beyond the normal vetting of foods. It delays getting the food to schools in a timely fashion and will affect many classroom and sports teams' abilities to provide food for the kids through donations.
