This Wednesday, October 4th 7:30-9:30 PM Virtual Town Hall Follow Up

Thank you to everyone who has been continuing to advocate for transportation for education in Howard County!

We will be meeting virtually via Zoom for a follow-up Town Hall this Wednesday, October 4th from 7:30-9:30 PM to discuss ongoing school bus service concerns. Please reach out to neighbors4buses@gmail.com if you need a virtual link.

Please bring any HCPSS student transportation concerns and ideas to the meeting.

The format of the meeting will be similar to the in person Town Hall. We will be giving any individual who would like to speak 3 minutes to share their concerns and ideas related to bus service.

A few specific questions we have for community members:
1) What school bus related problems persist even after the September 20th whole school system time change? Which school(s)/bus(es) continue to be late for arrivals and/or dismissals? Are there any new problems or concerns?

2) How did the transition go for children receiving specialized services? Are some children with special needs still routinely missing class time because of bus delays?

3) How are sports buses doing? We have heard of continued delays for some. Are some sports and/or schools more affected than others?

4) For those who were cut from school bus service before the new year, what data are you able to gather with your neighbors on the negative effects of school bus loss?  What are your poor weather contingency plans? For those driving, how long do car rider lines last? How has school bus loss impacted work for parents/guardians? How has teen sleep been affected?  What are other concerns around bus loss?
