Save our residents! Save Edgar P. Benjamin Healthcare Center in Boston, MA

The Issue

The Edgar P. Benjamin Healthcare Center is more than just a building; it is a beacon of light and hope in our community. Donated to us in 1927 by its namesake, this skilled nursing facility has served as the only black owned and operated nursing care facility in New England. It stands as a testament to our dedication to assist all people without regard to race, creed or color.

Today, this historical institution faces closure which would displace 76 elderly and disabled residents who call it their home. This threat comes under the administration of Tony Francis whose salary exceeds $625,000 making him the highest paid administrator of any non-profit organization.

We believe that such an excessive salary amidst claims of financial difficulties is unjustifiable. We are calling upon the state to take our building into receivership and remove both Mr Francis and the governing board.

This petition isn't just about preserving a building; it's about preserving history, dignity, and homes for those who need them most. Please sign this petition today - let's stand together for justice and against displacement!
