Red squirrels are quietly vanishing from England’s woodlands...
Unless something changes soon, we could lose them here entirely by 2030.
That’s why we’ve launched a short national survey this week – to get to the heart of the matter:
What do people really know about red squirrels in 2025?
And what do they want the government to do next?
It takes less than a minute to help – and your response could shape future woodland policy.
As the founder of this campaign, I’ve received countless heartfelt messages from people who remember reds in their childhood – or who’ve never seen one at all. The response has been overwhelming – but to turn it into change, we need more voices.
This petition has already reached tens of thousands of people. Now we’re gathering vital public insight to press the case for stronger protections – including a 20 per cent native set-aside in every woodland, and proper enforcement to stop commercial monocultures displacing our last remaining reds.
Please take part – and please share the link. Every response matters. Every voice helps. Every red squirrel counts.
Let’s make sure they aren’t just remembered in storybooks. 🐿️
