This Friday marks the first national Save Our Reds Day (#SaveOurReds), held alongside Endangered Species Day.
What began as a grassroots petition has grown into a national movement calling for stronger protection for Britain’s native red squirrels and the woodlands they depend upon.
And this week, together, we are on the verge of passing 80,000 supporters.
That’s extraordinary.
Over recent weeks, we’ve also been working on the next stage of the campaign: examining why, despite years of scientific warnings, there is still no clear national delivery plan to halt red squirrel decline in England.
Because this campaign was never only about signatures.
It was about raising awareness, building momentum, and helping push this issue firmly onto the national agenda.
So this Friday, wherever you are:
🌲 Share the petition
🌲 Share your red squirrel photos and memories
🌲 Celebrate our native reds
🌲 Use #SaveOurReds
From tiny acorns, mighty forests grow.
Thank you for helping build something remarkable.
