This Wednesday is Red Squirrel Appreciation Day – a chance for us all to pause and remember the tiny, fiery guardians of our forests who so urgently need our help.
Here in the UK, our native red squirrels have been pushed to the brink.
Loss of habitat, disease, and human apathy have driven them into just a fraction of their former woodland range. But thanks to this growing petition, over 70,000 people have already stood up to say: enough.
We believe it’s time for the UK Government to act – to protect red squirrel strongholds and enforce set aside of at least 20% of commercial forestry land as safe, biodiverse habitat. It’s a simple, tangible step that would make a real difference.
🐿️ And now, there’s a new way to help even the smallest voices be heard…
Meet Little Red – the tiny, brave squirrel at the heart of a brand-new children’s book written to support this very campaign. She’s already helping parents, teachers, and children fall in love with reds again – and her story is a reminder that courage, kindness, and hope can still shape the future.

Whether you’ve been with us from the start or only just discovered this movement, please share the petition again today – with your local MP, a friend, a school group, or someone who simply loves wildlife. Every acorn matters. 🌳
Thank you for helping the woods remember.
