Save Our Pottery Studio: Help Pothole stay at The Viaduct
The Issue
Help Pothole Stay at The Viaduct
Pothole is an artist-run community pottery studio in Haringey, described by many as their “happy place.”
For the past two years, we have provided pottery classes for all ages, affordable workspace for artists and regular community projects. Together we have built a thriving creative studio, with profits reinvested into sustaining and developing its community activities.
For over a year, we have been working proactively with Haringey Council to resolve an issue affecting our premises and secure Pothole’s future at The Viaduct. Unfortunately, the studio has now had to close suddenly and unexpectedly. We are asking Haringey to do all it can to help get Pothole’s doors back open.
Pothole already delivers many of the things Haringey itself wants to support: affordable creative workspace, inclusive cultural participation, opportunities for local artists and young people, and stronger connections between communities.
As Haringey prepares to be London Borough of Culture 2027, we believe the social, cultural and community value of an established grassroots space like Pothole should be properly considered alongside the commercial offer.
What we are asking
1. We ask Haringey Council to support Pothole reopening at The Viaduct and give full and fair consideration to keeping us here, taking into account our social, cultural and community value alongside the commercial requirements.
2. We ask that the decision about Pothole’s future is not made by the Property team alone. Property should assess the commercial requirements, but Pothole’s social, cultural and community value should be considered with meaningful input from Haringey’s Culture and Communities teams before a final decision is made.
Pothole is ready and able to meet the commercial requirements. We simply ask Haringey to consider the full value of keeping this established community here.
Please sign if you support keeping Pothole and its community at The Viaduct.

We have an opportunity to raise Pothole’s situation directly with Haringey Council on 8 October. Please sign before then and, if you can, leave a short comment telling us what Pothole means to you and what would be lost if we couldn’t continue at The Viaduct.
Thank you for supporting our artist-run community space.
