Friends of Fernglade
May 8, 2017
“I visited Fernglade in Jan 2017 and literally saw a platypus within 2 mins of arriving there. It remained above water for 10 seconds right alongside the bottom viewing platform, enabling good viewing. With the assistance of Vivienne of Friends of Fernglade we were able to locate the same platypus 10 minutes later, further downstream, allowing further viewing. After having visited 4 or 5 other well known Platypus viewing spots in Tasmania, I'm sure that Ferngrade is one of the best places to see them. My job as a Production Coordinator for wildlife film-makers requires that I’m knowledgeable re the ideal natural habitats in which to find wildlife. In my opinion Fernglade is an ideal habitat for platypus and platypus viewing. I'm hoping to return there next summer” Mikako Saito, Japan.
