Save our Pickleball Courts from Overlapping Tennis Lines

Save our Pickleball Courts from Overlapping Tennis Lines
The Issue
We, the pickleball players of Brubaker Park, strongly oppose the Township's plan to paint tennis lines over our recently completed pickleball courts.
A Thriving Pickleball Community:
These dedicated pickleball courts have become a cornerstone of our community's health and recreation. They are incredibly popular, often seeing all eight courts in use by residents of all ages and skill levels. That's at least 32 players utilizing the courts at one time... a stark contrast from the days when this space was used for tennis!
The Problem with Overlapping Lines:
Overlaying tennis lines on the pickleball courts would be detrimental to both sports:
Ruined Pickleball Experience: The additional lines would create constant visual distractions and significantly hinder proper pickleball play.
Reduced Court Capacity: A single tennis court, used by just two players, would effectively replace four pickleball courts, displacing 16 players. This will undoubtedly cause tension and disgust amongst everyone involved.
This simply doesn't make sense, especially considering the abundance of existing tennis courts readily available in our area including:
- Adamstown Park
- Blue Ball Elementary
- Bowmansville Park
- New Holland Park
- Terre Hill Park
Let's Find a Better Solution:
We urge the Township to explore alternative solutions that cater to both tennis and pickleball enthusiasts. Options could include:
- Upgrading existing tennis facilities in other Brecknock Twp parks.
- Allocating resources towards building new tennis courts in a suitable location.
- Engaging the community in a collaborative effort to find a solution that will benefit everyone!
By signing this petition, you are voicing your opposition to painting tennis lines over our dedicated pickleball courts. You are advocating for a solution that respects the needs of both sports and allows our community pickleball haven to thrive!!
