The imposition of the Level 4 Lockdown regulations on the Citizens of South Africa threatens our Constitutional Democracy in a way never seen before.

The draconian measures include the imposition of a military enforced curfew, the legally baseless establishment of the National Joint Operation and Intelligence Structure, the irrational time frames for healthy exercise, and the illogical prohibition of goods not in any way linked to the CoVID-19 pandemic.

Resultant of the current poorly drafted lockdown regulations:

• the military and South African Police Services members have caused the death of South African citizens;
• citizens have been unlawfully arrested based on incorrect or personally biased interpretations of the law;
• innocent civilians have been made criminals through Admission of Guilt acceptances for alleged transgressions;
• untold damage has been done to the South African fiscus through the prohibition of goods and services which cannot be causally linked to the pandemic or to the health system;
• jobs, livelihoods and families have been destroyed through the ill-thought out restrictions on commerce, racist allocation of relief schemes, and unconstitutional bypass of joint responsibility Court orders;
• our people are suffering starvation and disease (not due to the pandemic) due to their inability to afford or access necessary foodstuffs and medication; and
• travel for our most vulnerable workers from 'neighbourhoods' outside of major metro's to work will now (in most cases) require authorisation reminiscent of the Apartheid-era dompas.

The composition of the National Command Council (NCC) excludes many elected South African Ministers and leads to the personal whims of others being enacted as law.  The Government has lost much of the peoples support for the lockdown and, specifically, the overruling of the Presidency by the NCC is an embarrassment. 

According to the NCC's own modus operandi, only 2000 signatures on this position will be required to implement the necessary changes to protect our constitutional order.  

So, please, make your voice heard by signing this petition and stop the destruction, death and oppression that the National Command Council is causing.
