We need to make Manhattan more resilient to the impacts of climate change through a thoughtful approach. Projects and designs should engage local stakeholders in a meaningful way to ensure community needs are prioritized.

Resiliency projects should be used as an opportunity to increase active green spaces, transform concrete into green and preserve old growth trees while adding new trees.

We ask officials to PAUSE on resiliency projects that do not meet these design principles, starting with Wagner Park in Battery Park City, until we can devise a smart and integrated resiliency plan that incorporates community voices and respects this precious green space as the landmark that it is.
