The Indian River Road expansion project is going to affect us negatively for years! Not only will they be tearing up our current streets and putting large roadways through them which will make our very walkable Glenwood neighborhood considerably more dangerous; but they will also be tearing up yards of all residents on several streets. They will literally be taking away property from a large population of residents in a day and age where owning land matters!  They will be tearing down tons of trees and displacing critters and animals into our yards and of course they will try to find access in our homes.  My family fought against this project 20 years ago and they are trying to start it again.  They are asking for millions in city funding to literally destroy our yards and make our neighborhood less safe. They’ve already started ringing our doorbells before 8am and entering our properties. This is just pre construction so imagine the lack of care of the people who live in these neighborhoods over the next serval years that a project of this magnitude will take!  I grew up during the Lynnhaven/Volvo road expansion over 10 years ago a similar project and watched as construction displaced people and took their land. Preceding construction, so many people were killed in our neighborhood because of the level of traffic and they delay in putting up stop lights and lack of crosswalks! This Elbow/Indian River project will do much of the same and will effect our day to day for the next 5-10years. This project is something that has been stopped in the past and we are trying to stop it again! Please sign this petition if you are against this project.
