It CAN be done!

Hello, and thank you to everyone who has shared this petition, and for the supportive comments from local residents, and people around the country and the world.
Facebook communication in local groups about the sale and development of Lot 101 Todds Road is currently discussing an example of land purchase by the Queensland Government to secure native habitat.
The Urban Developer published an article on 1 December 2021 about the Queensland Government compulsorily acquiring “a 148ha site at Currumbin Waters to create one of Australia’s biggest eco-parklands.”
When an agreement could not be reached with the developer, “the land was compulsorily acquired” said Minister for State Development, Steven Miles, who is now Queensland’s Premier, and “the developer would be compensated for the land in accordance with the Acquisition of Land Act 1967”. Steven Miles further said that:
“The community’s message was clear, they asked us to protect and preserve this beautiful property and its unique, natural features and that’s exactly what we’re doing,”
The Currumbin example demonstrates that it IS possible for the Queensland Government and Moreton Bay City Council to step in and purchase Lot 101. Further:
· It presents an ideal opportunity to extend the Lawnton Koala Reserve and help secure the future of our koalas.
· It will show all Australians and the world that the Queensland Government and Moreton Bay City Council will UPHOLD THEIR COMMITMENT to strengthening koala habitat protection regulations by “fine tuning existing policy settings”, as promised on 18th May 2024; and will “PRIORITISE these 3.372 hectares of koala habitat that link to Lawnton’s Koala Reserve”.
Please continue to share with others to help raise awareness for this urgent cause.
