House builder and developer 'Taylor Wimpey' have a live planning application submitted to Inverclyde Council, to build 100 private houses on Greenbelt land at Planetreeyetts in Kilmacolm.
We asked Inverclyde Council Planning Officers, if they would extended the period people can submit 'Comments', as this planning application sits over Christmas and the New Year festivities. Unfortunately Inverclyde Council Planning Officers have REFUSED this request. So this is our only period to submit our views to Inverclyde Council.

Below are some of the reasons why you should OBJECT to this Planning Application on Greenbelt. Feel free to use any of these points in your own words;
- This Planning Application for a large scale Housing Development of 100 houses, is on GREENBELT.
- There is to be NO Greenbelt released for Housing in either our 'Current' Inverclyde Local Development Plan 2014-2019, or in our next Inverclyde Local Development Plan-Proposed Plan 2019-2024.
- There are MANY Brownfield sites free and available with planning permission already granted, ready to build houses on in the Inverclyde, and Renfrewshire Housing Market areas, where Kilmacolm sits.
- There is NO Housing included for 'Social Rent' in this Planning Application. A minimum of 25% for Social Rent must be included, if any new Greenbelt is to be released in the future. This is a requirement of Inverclyde Council. Taylor Wimpey have said they will include 25% 'Affordable Housing'. Affordable Housing IS NOT Social Rent Housing.
- Taylor Wimpey plan to DEMOLISH Planetreeyetts farmhouse and its surrounding outbuildings to squeeze in a few more prefabricated newbuilds, just to maximize their profits. Beautiful farmhouses like these, that are hundreds of years old, should be protected and celebrated. This farmhouse is currently occupied, and the outbuildings are used to keep horses in.
- The site at Planetreeyetts is a possible 'Local Nature Conservation Site' where rare plants and flowers have been discovered. This has been recorded as part of an assessment Inverclyde Council commissioned in 2018.
- Release of this Greenbelt at Planetreeyetts would go against Inverclyde Councils own Policies SDS8 and ENV2. It would also go against Clydeplan2 Policy 8 and Policy 14. It also goes against the 'Scottish Planning policy'.
- There is already a large scale housing development due to be built in the village of Kilmacolm at Balrossie. This planning application has already been granted. There will be a strain on the infrastructure in Kilmacolm already with this development, without additional large scale housing developments, which will impact on Roads, Doctors, and Schools.
- This site at Planetreeyetts is directly next to Kilmacolm Cemetery, which is currently a beautiful idyllic area. This area should remain as the tranquil place it currently is.
- Our democratically elected Inverclyde Councillors, voted 8-2 in favour of preserving our Greenbelts, during a debate and vote held in April 2018. This decision has to be upheld and respected.
We believe if one of the Greenbelts in the village of Kilmacolm is allowed to be developed on, for large scale development, OUTWITH our supposedly Plan Led 'Inverclyde Local Development Plan', then all the Greenbelts in Kilmacolm will be under a much greater risk of development, as the Precedent will have been set.
If it's not in our Local Development Plan, or supported by local and national Policies, or supported by our Democratically elected Councillors, which it isn't, then this planning application should not be permitted by Inverclyde Council, or by a Scottish Government appointed 'Reporter' on Appeal. Simple...
