My dog, my best friend, and my son's four-legged brother is currently facing an unjust fate at the Worcester Animal Rescue League. He is on death row, not because he is a dangerous animal but because he was protecting me from an assault. This isn't just about a dog; it's about a member of our family who stepped up in our time of need.

In the United States alone, thousands of dogs are euthanized each year due to misinterpretations of their actions. The National Canine Research Council reports that often these decisions are made without considering the context in which these actions occurred. This lack of understanding can lead to tragic outcomes for loyal pets like mine.

Our dog acted out of instinct to protect his family from harm. It's heartbreaking that this act of loyalty could cost him his life. We believe that with proper training and understanding, incidents like this can be prevented in future.

We urge the Worcester Animal Control and relevant authorities to reconsider their decision and give our beloved pet another chance at life. Their volunteers have been very helpful in keeping us updated with Max during this time.  As we know Worcester Animal Rescue League and Worcester Animal Control are 2 different entities. Although they work together the jobs of both parties are completely different. We need to act now!
