According to United Nations, the lake chad has shrunk to more than 80% of its original size since the 1960s. As someone from Borno State who has had to live and experience the direct effects of the shrinkage of the lake chad and what it means to me and many others like myself, I believe this is everyone’s concern. Climate change and all its effects are already been felt by millions of people in different ways (poverty, unemployment, lack of access to clean water, drought etc).

Unfortunately, the effects of climate change will mean environments will be uninhabitable for future generations. It is simply unacceptable that these issues of grave concern is met with deafening silence even from agencies with mandate to create awareness. 

DEMANDS:

1. That the National Agency of the Great Green Wall establishment must as a matter of urgency start to implement its mandate of creating awareness and environmental education to the general public as provided in Section (6)(q) of its Act.
2. Degraded land restoration and rehabilitation through Afforestation and reforestation.
3. Make public its plan for ensuring environmental sustainability.
