The Wichita City Council will decide the fate of the Delano District's green space and shade trees tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 20.  The Council meeting starts at 9AM, we're item number VII so come prepared to sit for a while before they get to it.

Three things you can do to help:

1) Share the petition, even it you've posted it before.  We are only 9 signatures shy of a 1000!

2) Email the Mayor and members of the Wichita City Council.  Please be respectful.  Ask them to reject the staff's recommendation and the zoning application PUD2022--00011.  Reasons cited have been the destruction of 40 mature shade trees, increased traffic on Fern and Vine (which may be harmful to children who play there and adults walking), and overwhelming opposition in this low-income, working class neighborhood.  I copied one email all the addresses.  I addressed it to "Dear Mayor and City Council".  Here are the email addresses:  bwhipple@wichita.gov, btuttle@wichita.gov, mhhoheisel@wichita.gov, mballard@wichita.gov, bjjohnson@wichita.gov, jblubaugh@wichita.gov, bfrye@wichita.gov.

3) Attend tomorrow's council meeting at 9AM at City Hall.  We'll all be sitting together and we'll have stickers that say 'Delano' on them.  We aren't allowed to speak unless asked a question 'from the bench' but Council members will note that we are there.
