Save Our Crossing Patrol Warden on Linden Rd!
The Issue
‘It shouldn’t take bravery to cross a road, but sometimes it feels that way ’
This quote from Active Travel Commissioner Chris Boardman could not be more relevant to the junction of Linden Rd and Franklin Road.
But for a few hours each weekday, because of the outstanding bravery of our Crossing Warden Tracy, hundreds of children- many unaccompanied- can walk, scoot or cycle safely to school.
And yet, Tracy has just been told that she is being made redundant as a result of council cuts, and local residents are devastated. Without her help crossing, children’s lives are at risk. But she’s not only providing a crossing service, she offers a friendly smile and welcome chat to local residents of all ages. It’s no exaggeration to say she is a linchpin of our local community.
We are calling upon Birmingham City Council to reverse this decision and save her job.
