Firstly, a big thank you for supporting our petition. Thanks to you, we have already reached an amazing 6,800 signatures! Every additional signature strengthens the message to local and national government that Heyford Park is the wrong place for a New Town. Developer profits should not outweigh the protection of our national heritage, the environment, local needs and democracy.
If you can share the petition further, we would be so grateful whether on Instagram, in WhatsApp groups, by email or any other way you prefer.
Nationally, the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government is currently assessing 12 potential locations for New Towns, including Heyford Park. The Government has said it will publish proposals for consultation early this year, before confirming locations later in the Spring.
Please ask your local MP to oppose Heyford Park as a New Town location and to raise our concerns with the Housing Minister.
Locally, Cherwell District Council is likely to make a decision on the developer's application in March.
You can still submit an objection to planning@cherwell-dc.gov.uk until 27 February, quoting ref: 25/02190/hybrid with your name and address.
We will update you as further developments emerge, both locally and nationally.
Please note that it is possible to sign the petition and submit an objection from outside the UK.
We would also like to clarify that any payments made through Change.org do not go to Friends of Rousham but directly to Change.org in order to promote our petition and support their platform. These payments are optional and do not affect your support counting.
Thank you again from the Friends of Rousham. We really value your support.
