Save Our Community Greenspace by Stopping Development of the Hanley Park North Subdivision

0 have signed. Let’s get to 2,500!

Dear community members,

There is a proposed plan to create a 156-home residential subdivision at the end of Tessa Boulevard in place of the existing forest.  For decades, the community has enjoyed the trails and natural splendour offered by this greenspace, whether it be exploring, cross-country skiing, or socializing outdoors.

We believe that the enjoyment of the outdoors should not be relegated to small, manufactured parcels of land, nor that we should have to drive to simply be able to spend time in nature.  With this development, the residents of Belleville will lose an extensive network of natural trails, along with the tranquility that accompanies walking them.  Within these trails, there is a diverse ecosystem of streams, marshes and mixed forests, all of which are home to an array of wildlife.  Though it has always been true, the pandemic has made it abundantly clear that unfettered access to the outdoors is an essential element to a healthy and happy life.

Please help us keep the community whole, by opposing the development of the Hanley Park North subdivision.

When signing this petition, both the Mayor, Mitch Panciuk and Secretary of the Planning Advisory Committee, Matt MacDonald will be notified.

We also encourage you to respectfully write to them both, relaying your experience of the trails and / or your feelings towards the preservation of Belleville’s greenspaces.
